ProMuso Creative
With decades of professional music and media production experience we offer new composition and creative and technical musical services for film, TV, radio, advertising, branding etc.
With experience focussed on Celtic, Jazz and classical genres, plus original subject focussed singer songwriter material, we bring a dedicated approach to new music composition and production to support all media types.
We also aim to support emerging and experienced musicians, composers and arrangers working in these areas.
ProMuso Studios
Our in-house and on location studio services, focus, is on the recording of musicians and ensembles, primarily performing in traditional Celtic folk music, jazz, classical, singer songwriter and small acoustic groups.. Edinburgh is blessed with top session musicians over our speciality genres, all of whom are known and available to us.
With around 100 microphones, 32 track portable studio and 128 track Allen and Heath desk based studio, we record at the highest levels of audio fidelity available.
Additionally, state of the art audio results are available using our audio restoration services which utilise the highest level of technologies available. From aged cassettes, LPs etc, we convert to digital removing background noise, enhancing sound and adding analogue warmth.
To support the exceptional session musicians that work with us , we provide them with a promotional service for work within Scotland. We provide a link between corporate events, weddings, birthday celebrations and anniversary parties to these truly top of their game bands and musicians. Whether your event requires light jazz to a full blown ceilidh with caller we will match the perfect band for your event.
Who We Are
As owner, I commenced my own musical career as a classical trumpeter whilst also performing semi professional jazz from the age of 16.
Not long after I gravitated towards being a singer songwriter on the folk scene accompanying myself on guitar and occasionally piano. I played with an unashamedly commercial focus and became Musical Director in my 20’s for a commercial summer season ceilidh banquet. I have since been MD for several well known performers in Jazz and American country music.
I bought my first studio around 1990 and have run that concurrently with other musical and business interests in the UK and USA.
Now having largely retired from touring, I am focussed on developing ProMuso Creative and ProMuso Studios in Edinburgh, working with excellent musicians around the globe to support individual acoustic projects.
As a part of our offering, I have also assembled the best available tools for quality audio restoration, which has been a special personal interest, that I am now making more widely available.

ProMuso Creative
ProMuso is a creative music company primarily involved in composition and orchestration of incidental material for media related companies. Song completion services and practical and creative artist support services are available for musicians.
ProMuso Studios
The studio arm offers the highest quality levels of analogue to digital recording and mastering , utilising an Allen & Heath console and Drawmer compression. Acoustic ensemble recording specialism, with 30 years experience. On location services available
Audio Restoration
Audio restoration is best undertaken from original analogue sources where possible. It is with lesser results, possible to greatly improve the dreadful output from USB turntables and cassette transfer machines but note these are audio destructive mediums.

We can record to the highest fidelity standards, but that is only the final stages of a quality recording. A great performance is required, aided by comfortable surroundings with good acoustics and people and equipment in whom the performer has confidence.
